Speedway Suit
The Speedway suit is where it all started. This suit has been our forte, and has helped us define a style of design ingenuity unlike any of our competitors. For more than ten years, the current legends of US and European Speedway have been wearing NJK. 2000 World Champion Mark Loram, two time US National Champion Chris Manchester, Josh Larsen, and nearly every National Champion since 1991 have worn NJK. Creatively, this might be the configuration most conducive to originality. The Speedway suit is geared toward the bullring ovals of the USA, where brakeless machines are ridden by some of the most outrageous riders to be found.
This suit can come in many materials and designs, and the combinations are limitless. Leather, Kevlar, and Nylon are the base materials that a Speedway suit is constructed from. Complete suits can be made from any of these, and hybrids of two or three are very common. The leather suit offers the most abrasion protection, the Kevlar suit offers the most stretch and flexibility, and the Nylon suit is the lightest and typically most colorful. The suits without leather are capable of being washed in the washing machine and hung dry.
Design is virtually limitless. Classic Speedway designs involve straight lines similar to that of vintage flat track. recent times, our design elements have ventured into flames, barbed wire, flowing waves, lightning bolts, jagged breaking pieces, and anything else that a rider might be able to envision.
Safety wise, the Speedway suit can have any of the protective gear that the rider desires. Road style armor is an option, but generally soft pads are the norm. Placement of these pads can be, but is not limited to elbows, shoulder, knees and seat. Kill switch tab D-rings adorns the right lower sleeve, and left leg clutch grinding pads are also included.
Speedway suits start at $750 and include the following:
- Entire 1 piece suit constructed of leather, Kevlar, or Nylon.
- Last name and riding number in two colors on back.
- Any soft pads desired; i.e. knees, seat, elbow, shoulder.
- Left leg clutch grinding pad.
- Kevlar neck with polar fleece lining.
- Built in poly/nylon lining.
- Brass YKK zippers.
- Kill switch D-ring on right lower sleeve.
Additional options include perforated leather, hybrid construction using more than one of our material types, lettering, design, additional Kevlar and accordion stretch panels, and two piece configurations.
